"America's First National Tree" August 2005

The history of "America's First National Tree" is unique and interesting.  As Her Majesty The Queen, on August 31, 2005 mentioned, she was "most interested to learn the history of the Tree".

1.     It is the only Tree planted in a mixture of soil provided by each governor of every U.S. state (50), territory (3), commonwealth (2) and the Mayor of Washington, D.C. (1)  A total of 56 variant soils.

2.     It is the only Tree to have physically traveled to every U.S. state, territory, commonwealth and Washington, D.C.; at least once.

3.     It is the only Tree to have been photographed in front of every U.S. State Capitol Building in the contiguous 48 States, Alaska and Washington, D.C.  To view the Tree and America's Sentinel of Honor photographed in front of each State Capitol Building (and in Hawaii but not at the Capitol Building) visit:

vetspark.org - go to soil and see sub-title photos of Tree at State Capitol Buildings.

4.     It is the World's Most Traveled Tree; having traveled 205,297 miles as of the summer of 2008.  If our Tree travels 238,000 miles we can all boast our Tree has traveled as far as from Earth to the Moon!

On November 12, 2002 Senator Bob Smith of New Hamsphire introduced "America's First National Tree" to the 107th Congress and called upon the President to "permanently plant this tree on the White House lawn".

During the Tree's 205,297 miles of travel across America we polled  American's of all walks of life where they thought "America's First National Tree" should be planted.  Overwhelmingly it was the White House lawn.

On July 2, 2005 I met with a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Capt. Phil Cullom, Commander Second Fleet, Commander Striking Fleet Atlantic, who emphatically said "That Tree belongs on the White House lawn"!

There is a national movement among those who feel "America's First National Tree" should be planted on the White House lawn.  We're asking all who agree with this senitment to write President Obama, the First Lady, their Senators and Congressional Representatives mentioning your feelings and asking if they would be free from any personal motive or ambition and join with you and the American people to have "The people's tree planted at The people's house on The people's lawn!"  The White House".
